  • About
HOT GLASS INC. is a hands-on, non-profit shop dedicated to the instruction, presentation, interpretation, collection, documentation and preservation of the contemporary glass art movement with a special focus on team building for organizations and youth.
    Company Overview
    • Our long-term goal is to develop an organization that serves at-risk students in the greater Quad Cities area and to be a positive addition to the downtown Davenport landscape. To help fund this program, we will offer fee-based glass blowing classes, corporate team building events, and seasonal events to the general public.
    • Our “Glass Team”, which will be made up of participating at-risk students, will create awards for employees or art for the boardrooms of our corporate sponsors in exchange for contributions to help support tuition free programs for all at-risk students. Students apply for the glass team and will be reviewed monthly. Team participation is contingent upon their school attendance, grades, teamwork, and attitudes.
    • We will also partner with local arts organizations and colleges to offer programming. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work at BuckTown Center, Riverssance Festival of Fine Art, and the Farmers Market. Communication skills, marketing, presentation, and the responsibility of working with the public will be emphasized.
    • Hot Glass Inc. offers a unique model for using art as a means for intervention with youth. Teens are faced with a lack of positive activities for their age group. Many of the activities like athletics foster an adversarial relationship as competition becomes more intense and some students are left off the team. Art provides an opportunity for teens to have success without having to compete for a spot on the team or losing a game. We hope to serve over 100 students per year.
    • The program at Hot Glass Inc. is designed to provide youth with a life changing experience. By working with glass, students develop essential skills including teamwork, communication, planning and decision-making, as well as specific job related applications. Most importantly, they learn that they have the responsibility and the power to shape their own futures.
    • According to the study below, experiences like Hot Glass will offer benefit to our youth.

    • March 30, 2012 Washington, DC — At-risk students who have access to the arts in or out of school also tend to have better academic results, better workforce opportunities, and more civic engagement, according to a new NEA report, The Arts and Achievement in At-Risk Youth: Findings from Four Longitudinal Studies. The study reports these and other positive outcomes associated with high levels of arts exposure for youth of low socioeconomic status.
