Brian J. Nikulski, CFP®

Brian Nikulski has been in the business of financial planning since 1996. He is currently the President and Chief Compliance Officer for Nikulski Financial, Inc; a fee-only Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm and full service financial planning company. Prior to establishing Nikulski Financial, he was a partner in one of the most successful group practices in the country at American Express Financial Advisors; currently Ameriprise Financial, Inc. He held several securities licenses prior to becoming an RIA.
Nikulski received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University, Kirksville, MO). He has also received numerous industry awards for outstanding financial planning advice and obtained top production levels within American Express Financial Advisors and the financial services industry. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM designation in 2000 and has advanced training in portfolio construction and risk management.
Mr. Nikulski is on the Executive Committee of the Illowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America; assisting them in managing their Endowment Funds and overall operations. He also manages money for other Non-Profit Endowment Funds within the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities area. Nikulski was previously a member of the Truman State University Foundation Board Endowment Fund’s Investment Committee.
Nikulski maintains industry affiliations with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), Financial Planning Association (FPA), and the Fee Only Network. He has been quoted in numerous national and regional publications including the Wall Street Journal and Barron’s Magazine and was recognized by the Quad Cities Times Business Journal in 2004 as a member of the 40 Under 40.
Nikulski serves as a leader in Boy Scouts of America Pack 89 and Troop 24, and is an active member of his church as a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hunting, shooting, golfing, and enjoying the outdoors.
Andrew Swanson, MS, CFP®
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Vice President
Andrew M. Swanson is Vice President and Financial Planner on the Nikulski team. Andrew has earned his CFP® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation and holds a Series 65 License as an Investment Advisor Representative. Andrew completed his Master of Science Degree in Personal Financial Planning through the College for Financial Planning located in Centennial, CO in December of 2017. Andrew has received his Certificate in Paraplanner Development through The American College of Financial Services and is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), as well as the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Genesis.
Andrew is a Quad Cities native, currently residing in Bettendorf. He is a University of Northern Iowa alumnus graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. During his tenure at UNI, Andrew was a scholarship member of the University Track & Field and Cross Country teams for four years competing across the U.S. He was dynamically involved in the Boys and Girls Club, where he helped children strive to excel in school and to pursue the goal of going to college, as well as worked with soldiers in affiliation with the Wounded Warrior Project.
As part of our fee-only Registered Investment Advisory firm, Andrew provides fee-based asset management and comprehensive financial planning to ensure clients stay on track to achieve their financial goals throughout all phases of life.
Amber J. Netherton, Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™
Client Relations Manager
As our Client Relations Manager, one of Amber’s primary responsibilities is to understand our clients’ needs and proactively assist them. She handles client communications, special projects, maintains data in all software systems, ensures proper processing of applications and related paperwork, and oversees the daily office operations.
Amber spent 10 years in the Real Estate industry as a Corporate Relocation Specialist and licensed Managing Broker prior to joining our team. She is an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, IA and enjoys serving as part of the Youth Ministry Team. She has lived in the Quad Cities area with her husband and daughter since 2003 after relocating from New Paltz, New York.
Amber graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French Language and Literature. She received her Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™, FPQP® designation through the College for Financial Planning and holds a Series 65 License as an Investment Advisor Representative.
As our Office Coordinator, Danielle’s primary responsibility is managing the front office of the business and servicing client accounts. She arranges and prepares for client-advisor meetings, ensures proper processing of applications and related paperwork, and assists with the daily office operations.
Danielle is a Quad Cities native, graduating from Davenport West High School. She spent seven years in management prior to joining our team. She holds an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science from Scott Community College and is currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Business Management at Western Illinois University. Danielle is also pursuing the Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ designation through the College for Financial Planning.
In her free time, Danielle enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. Her hobbies include fishing, biking, cooking, and traveling.
